TAG HEUER ANNOUNCES NEW AMBASSADOR: RYAN GOSLING & THE NEW GENERATION TAG HEUER CARRERA THREE HANDS

TAG Heuer Carrera, a heritage of sportsmanship and elegance The TAG Heuer Carrera collection has always been the ultimate showcase for the brand’s fascinating motor racing heritage, and is best known for its timeless, sporty and elegant chronographs. Since their introduction more than 60 years ago by visionary Jack Heuer, these timepieces, with their smooth, clean lines and perfect proportions, have become instantly recognisable and elevated to the ranks of horological icon.

Favouring pure and modern design, Jack Heuer’s aim at the time was to create a Heuer Carrera chronograph that was both uncluttered and perfectly harmonious – ideal characteristics for drivers
who need to be able to tell the time at a glance in the heat of the action. In 1962, Jack Heuer, CEO of the watchmaker at the time, heard about the famous Carrera Panamericana car race, one of the
most dangerous in the world. The Spanish word Carrera, which means road, race, career or course, immediately caught his attention. It would be the perfect name for a new timepiece.

The obsession with readability “Legend has it that TAG Heuer’s obsession with readability started in 1958 when Jack Heuer dropped from first to third in a Swiss rally he was competing in because he was unable to read the dashboard timer correctly. After that, Jack decided to focus on and improve this specific pain point, and he embraced his love of modern design to create an incredibly legible watch.” explains Nicholas Biebuyck Heritage Director at TAG Heuer. “This is the reason why the Carrera launched in 1963 looks already radically different from any other watches the company had produced before. You can see in the Carrera a focus on the typography and the desire to explore the purest form possible. Its design language is so clear and minimal that there are only three lines of text on the watch dial: Carrera –Heuer – Swiss Made – removing any risk of getting confused or distracted by superfluous decorations.”

In the early 2000’s, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands version was introduced and since that time, this line has been the embodiment of TAG Heuer’s unwavering quest for perfect readability and clarity, particularly with regards to telling time. If the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is the sharpest and most legible way of recording time, the Carrera Three Hands is the sharpest and most legible way of telling time and as such, is the natural successor of the dashboard timers which had been produced by Heuer since the 1930’s. In 2021, the new TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands collection abides by the same master time philosophy and revisits this rich heritage with a touch of modernity and the same passion for creating timepieces with a striking design that ensures perfect readability for drivers, as well as for all owners of this legendary watch. A commitment that has fuelled the company for nearly 100 years. Frédéric Arnault, TAG Heuer’s CEO, said “Since its first introduction more than two decades ago, the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands has become a centrepiece of our offering, and we are delighted to introduce a new line that ties the watch firmly to its illustrious roots, while projecting bold modernity and refinement. With 4 variations and 13 new timepieces, our clients and collectors will undoubtedly find the
TAG Heuer Carrera that uniquely matches their lifestyle while enjoying its signature understated design and unrivalled legibility, features which have made it the lasting success it is.”

TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time Date 41 mm

The TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time is equipped with the Caliber 7 automatic movement. The Twin-Time version has the new H-shaped bracelet. The dial offers bolder hour and minute hands,
and a refined Twin-Time hand tip.

The elegant and sporty design is highlighted by a new, refined flange in bicolour, silver and blue, to indicate day and night.

TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29 mm
The TAG Heuer Carrera Date 29 mm, Calibre 9 automatic, has a new case with refined lugs and a new H-shaped bracelet. For better readability, the dial integrates bolder hands and a new refined index, which reflects the light and is inspired by the Carrera’s origins. The 29mm size line also integrates a date at 6’o clock new refined version with diamond indexes.

The introduction of the TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands collection marks a new chapter in TAG Heuer’s Carrera history. Pure design, readability, refinement … The new generation of the Carrera Three Hands is a new interpretation of an iconic watch and a worthy representative of the readability obsession of Jack Heuer. An obsessive quest which is deeply anchored in the brand’s DNA.

TAG HEUER Teams Up with pop culture Icon Super Mario

TAG HEUER TEAMS UP WITH POP CULTURE ICON SUPER MARIO

To celebrate the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the two brands, TAG Heuer and Nintendo have created a limited-edition smartwatch featuring Nintendo’s most famous
character: the energetic Mushroom Kingdom hero, Mario, who takes over the TAG Heuer Connected.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, July 13th 2021: When TAG Heuer and Super Mario join forces, you can bet the result is a timepiece that adds new excitement to both the watchmaking and gaming worlds and which fans of the two brands will be desperate to get their hands on! Super Mario meets the TAG Heuer Connected. The result? A watch that stands out and brings new creativity and daring style to the avant-garde watchmaker’s collections. The intrepid, iconic hero comes to life in this luxury smartwatch that combines sport, technology and elegance in one dynamic package. In this collaboration, the TAG Heuer Connected is offering wearers a fun new way to get more active, feeling the thrill of achieving goals throughout the day.

Generations of gamers have grown up with Super Mario, with more than 370 million Super Mario games sold worldwide since 1985. Since the first Super Mario Bros. game launched in Japan in 1985, Super Mario – with his red cap and blue overalls – has become recognised the world over.

“The inspiration for this collaboration came from our desire to gamify and bring excitement to our new wellness application and Super Mario instantly came to our minds,” says Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer. “And it’s not just his international and intergenerational appeal that clinched it. Mario is the ultimate super-active character whose perseverance and tenacity get him out of every situation. The new hero watchface gives life to this iconic character and encourage users to team up with Mario to get out there and be more active? The TAG Heuer Connected is the perfect companion for a connected life and every active person’s best friend. With this Super Mario limited-edition smartwatch, they can add a bit of fun and originality to their activities and wellness.”

At the heart of this collaboration, the TAG Heuer Connected watch is a unique combination of the refinement and elegance of a chronograph-inspired timepiece crafted in the purest watchmaking
tradition, with a state-of-the-art, custom-designed digital experience geared towards performance.

It offers customers a striking and versatile wristwatch to enhance their individual lifestyle, from daily connected services to immersive sports experiences.

Feel the thrill of progress with the TAG Heuer

Connected and Super Mario interactive watchface Thanks to the TAG Heuer Connected, action is at the heart of this TAG Heuer x Super Mario collaboration. This brand-new digital creation, combining luxury and sport with fun features along the way, encourages the wearer to get out and about and step up their physical activity with Mario, to be rewarded by the
pleasure and satisfaction of marking their progress.

Mario himself is always on the move, whether he’s running and jumping, or playing sports like golf and tennis. His upbeat and active personality will encourage wearers of this smartwatch to enjoy moving too. With its watchface, which becomes livelier and more animated the more the wearer is active, this edition of the TAG Heuer Connected changes as its user makes progress, for a fun and motivating way of keeping active throughout the day.

The animations are based on the gamification rewards system: Mario greets you with a welcoming salute in the morning and as the day progresses and you rack up your step count, you unlock rewards at each stage of your daily target – 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% – a different animation plays out on the dial. These take the form of Super Mario’s famous objects: at 3 o’clock the Super Mushroom that makes Mario grow, at 6 o’clock the Pipe that allows him to travel fast and at 9 o’clock the Super Star that makes him invincible lights up! And when you reach 100% of your daily step count target, Mario climbs the Goal Pole, another iconic feature of the video game.

The idea is inspired by the famous “easter egg” concept that all gamers know very well, which consists of hiding features and surprises as a bonus in video games.

The interactive watchface will be pre-installed on the TAG Heuer Connected Super Mario Limited Edition, but TAG Heuer will also make it available on other editions of TAG Heuer Connected at a
later stage.

The TAG Heuer Connected x Super Mario Limited Edition

The TAG Heuer Connected Super Mario limited-edition comes packed with exclusives, both in the digital experience it delivers, and on the watch itself. The interface has been completely redesigned in the Super Mario colours. For this limited edition, TAG Heuer’s famous Connected watchfaces have been reinterpreted with Super Mario special versions, four dials revisited to include special details associated with Super Mario.

The Timekeeping watchface was reskinned using the retro elements from the 1985 version of Super Mario Bros. with Mario, all in pixels. Also, two versions of the Heuer 02 watchface were created
exclusively for this edition: a fun rendition using Super Mario’s iconic red and blue colours, and a more classic one with subtle touches of Super Mario’s red cap. Lastly, the Orbital watchface had its neural network replaced by Super Mario’s iconic elements rotating in a beautiful and mesmerizing movement.

On the exterior as well, the TAG Heuer Connected Limited Edition was designed with exclusive and subtle references that will delight Super Mario fans. The bezel graduation, push buttons and crown logo were filled with Super Mario’s famous red cap’s lacquered colour, making the watch instantly stand out from the core collection. The bezel features three iconic symbols at the three, six and nine o’clock positions, in a nod to the Super Mario objects included in the dial animations that the user can unlock and discover only when achieving goals throughout the day.

The new-look steel case also comes with two novel interchangeable straps, both featuring the signature Super Mario red colour: an elegant black leather on red rubber and a sporty alternative in matching red perforated rubber. The M symbol of Mario is engraved on the strap buckles and on the crown. Lastly, the screw-down case-back bears the special inscription “TAG Heuer x Super Mario Limited Edition”.

The TAG Heuer Connected x Super Mario Limited Edition is presented in a packaging designed exclusively for this collaboration. It also comes with a travel case in Super Mario red. This edition limited to 2,000 watches will be available only in selected TAG Heuer boutiques and at www.tagheuer.com in
some regions, from 15th July 2021.

TAG HEUER INTRODUCES A WELLNESS APP FOR ITS LUXURY CONNECTED WATCH

TAG HEUER INTRODUCES
A WELLNESS APP
FOR ITS LUXURY CONNECTED WATCH

The Swiss luxury watchmaker extends its TAG Heuer Connected digital universe with a new app for an active and healthy lifestyle.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – March 9th 2021: TAG Heuer, the Swiss luxury watch brand that has pioneered the luxury connected watch segment for more than five years, has introduced a new Wellness app that enables users to track their daily activities simply and effectively. From the tiniest steps to the most strenuous workout, they are motivated to be their best selves, while enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle.

An exciting new addition to the TAG Heuer
Connected universe

The exclusive new TAG Heuer Connected watch Wellness feature enables users to stay fit, healthy and connected by tracking their biometrics during all their daily activities. With two daily goals and  one weekly summary, the app motivates them and helps them understand how each effort – no matter how small – benefits their bodies. The release of the Wellness app comes one year after the incredible success of the new TAG Heuer Connected watch and, with its focus on health and fitness, is set introduce the brand’s Connected universe to an even greater audience.

For TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault: “With the Wellness app, we are adding a new pillar to our Connected watch product offering. Within a timeframe of a year, the TAG Heuer Connected has established its status in elegance and sports. It has been embraced by golfers, cyclists, runners and a wide range of other sports buffs. In addition to elegance and performance, our users also expressed a strong interest for tracking their wellness. We value their input; we know how important it is to remain active these days. And we created the TAG Heuer Connected Wellness app for them.”

All the key metrics at a glance

With a quick glance at the TAG Heuer Connected, the wearer can monitor daily activity (number of steps), exercise intensity (time spent each week doing moderate to vigorous exercise), the level of effort perceived by the body (real-time and continuous heart rate monitoring), and the quantified impact of
the exercise (calories burned).

And now with the TAG Heuer Connected mobile application, there is also a brand-new Wellness tab that offers – along with these metrics – information about their evolution over time, which are reliable indicators of the user’s activity level. The Wellness tab’s focus is squarely on marking each user’s steady progress which, in turn, is a motivation to stay active and fit.

Simply set goals and achieve them

Leading health associations encourage the achievement of two daily goals. The first one is to move more, sit less and reach a daily steps target. As counting steps becomes a part of a daily routine,
personal goals can be raised when the time is right. The second is to reach a daily calory-burning target. The more intense the effort, the greater the reward! Again, each user decides on his or her own personal goals and adjusts them according to individual lifestyle and the progress made.

A weekly summary of goals achieved

With the TAG Heuer Wellness app, progress is accurately tracked on a barometer that displays the level of activity during the week. With its detailed overview of minutes spent in fat-burn, cardio and peak zones, users can see at a glance how each active minute benefited their bodies.

TAG Heuer’s Wellness app is designed to motivate its users to make steady, healthy progress by focusing on three easy-to-understand metrics: daily steps, daily calories burned, and active minutes per week. It has introduced these with simple, user-friendly navigation – all the information is conveniently located in one place.

TAG Heuer Connected performance meets refined elegance

The new Wellness app is beautifully presented in the brand’s TAG Heuer Connected digital interface – it’s hard to imagine a more stylish way of keeping fit. The TAG Heuer Connected smartwatches are distinguished by their striking design: with a choice of a titanium or a stainless-steel case and a selection of statement-making dial options, they can be configured to express each wearer’s individual style. The Connected is offered with a stainless-steel bracelet or a comfortable, sporty rubber strap ina rich variety of colours.

TAG Heuer Wellness:
Reinforcing the TAG Heuer Connected digital universe With its visionary TAG Heuer Connected watch, the brand has made a design and technological statement that further solidified its position as leader of the luxury connected watch category. It is a unique combination of the refinement and elegance of a chronograph-inspired watch crafted in the purest luxury watchmaking tradition, with a state-of-the-art, custom-designed digital experience geared towards performance. The TAG Heuer Connected offers wearers a striking and versatile wristwatch that enhances their individual lifestyles, from daily connected services offered from Wear OS by Google*, to immersive sports experiences thanks to the TAG Heuer Sport app. The latter provides detailed tracking for running, cycling, walking, and fitness. Golfers in particular will be drawn to new features that have been introduced recently to help players raise the level of their games with the updated TAG Heuer Golf app.

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

Stuttgart/La Chaux-de-Fonds. Porsche and the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer TAG Heuer have joined forces in a strategic brand partnership. Within the framework of the holistic and long-term alliance, the premium manufacturers intend to jointly approach both sports competitions and the development of products. As a first step, the partners unveiled a new watch, the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph.

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

“The strong friendship of our brand with TAG Heuer exists since decades and I am more than happy that we are now taking the next steps in the frame of a strategic partnership,” says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “We bring together what our customers love the most about both of us: authentic heritage, thrilling sports events, unique life experiences and the fulfilment of dreams. We both strive to create some unique, magic moments for our communities. We now look forward to doing it together.”

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

“TAG Heuer and Porsche have common history and values, of course, but more importantly, we share an attitude,” says . “Like Porsche, we are disruptors at heart, always in pursuit of high performance. With this alliance, TAG Heuer and Porsche finally come together officially after decades of close encounters and will create unmatched experiences and products for customers and fans that are passionate about both our brands and what we stand for.”

Two histories – one passion
For over half a century, the stories of the two companies have intersected. Similarities of heritage can be traced all the way back to the entrepreneurs of Porsche and TAG Heuer. Edouard Heuer and Ferdinand Porsche were pioneers whose visions changed their chosen fields forever. Heuer was responsible for the first manufactured chronograph and Porsche constructed a new electric wheel hub motor. Both these accomplishments earned medals at World Fairs held in Paris 11 years apart. Heuer was honoured in 1889, the first Lohner-Porsche Electromobile with this innovation was presented at the Expo in Paris in 1900.

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

Porsche and TAG Heuer enter into strategic partnership

The true cornerstones of today’s partnership, however, are descendants of the brands’ founders. Ferdinand Porsche’s son, Ferdinand Anton Ernst or “Ferry”, joined his father’s engineering office in 1931 at the age of 22 and founded the car brand that bears the family name in 1948. Within a few years, the name of Porsche would be inextricably linked with race track success all around the world – including a class win in the Carrera Panamericana race of 1954. In honour of its successful participation, Porsche calls its most powerful sportscar engine at this time ‘Carrera’.
Edouard Heuer’s great-grandson Jack led his family’s company for decades. In 1963, he created the first Heuer Carrera chronograph, designed to let drivers tell the time at a glance in the heat of action. Jack Heuer was also responsible for the Heuer Monaco, the first square-faced, water-resistant automatic chronograph watch. Its name evoked the Monaco Grand Prix as well as the Principality’s renowned Monte Carlo Rally, which Porsche won in three consecutive years, from 1968 to 1970, with its 911 model.

Steve McQueen and the Heuer logo
Just as the Porsche 911 had done for automobiles, the Heuer Monaco broke with the familiar design codes of traditional watchmaking. Its innovations had come at a significant financial cost and as an alternative to an expensive advertising campaign, Jack Heuer further cemented his brand’s link to the renowned sportscar manufacturer with a creative sponsorship arrangement with Fribourg, Switzerland-based racing driver and Porsche dealer Jo Siffert. In 2005, at the premiere of the film Jo Siffert: “Live Fast, Die Young”, Jack Heuer remembered the terms of their contract: “In exchange for CHF 25,000, he would put our logo on his car and suit. In addition, he could buy our watches at wholesale prices and resell them to his racing friends at a substantial profit. Which he did with great success because half of the paddock was wearing Heuer watches by the end of the 1969 season!” It was this connection that led Steve McQueen to wear the Heuer logo on his racing suit during the filming of Le Mans in 1970, in which he drove a Porsche 917. The American actor said at the time, “I drive the same car as Jo Siffert, and I want to wear the same suit as him.”

TAG-Turbo Engine – made by Porsche for the McLaren team
With its sale to the TAG Group, Heuer became TAG Heuer in the mid-1980s. At this time, the Porsche and TAG Heuer jointly developed and produced the TAG Turbo Engine that enabled the McLaren team to win three consecutive F1 world titles: with Niki Lauda in 1984, followed by Alain Prost in 1985 and 1986. In 1999, the relationship between Porsche and TAG Heuer grew even stronger – from the Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup competitions, followed by the Endurance World Championship and more was yet to come. Porsche created its own Formula E team with TAG Heuer as title and timing partner in 2019, marking a starting point for an even more powerful and far-reaching collaboration.

New sports partnerships
In its second year, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team will now fight for the World Championship. Behind the wheel of Porsche’s all-electric racecar, the 99X Electric, will be drivers André Lotterer and his new teammate, Pascal Wehrlein. Porsche has long distinguished itself in endurance events and together with TAG Heuer its GT Team is well prepared for the coming FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The milestone year will also include series partnerships in ten editions of the worldwide one-make cup series Porsche Carrera Cup. In addition to physical competitions, TAG Heuer also engages in virtual racing by supporting the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. In addition, the watch brand is stepping in as global partner in Porsche’s ‘classic’ events and rallies.

Moreover, both brands share their strong passion for tennis and golf. The main tennis event is the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. This was launched in 1978, and the sports car manufacturer has been the organizer since 2002. TAG Heuer will accompany the event, which has repeatedly been named the most popular tournament in its category, as an official partner for watches and chronographs. In golf, Porsche has been the title sponsor of the Porsche European Open, one of the most traditional tournaments on the European Tour, since 2015. This year, TAG Heuer will be present as a partner for the first time here.

Finally, the brands are committed to creating unforgettable moments together in the future through the various Porsche Experiences.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph

Carrera as an icon of a name has been associated with Porsche and TAG Heuer for generations – so it was a natural choice for the first creative product collaboration. A tribute to the heritage of two brands, the new chronograph offers a first glimpse at what they can achieve together and is a seamless blend of the Porsche and TAG Heuer universes, reflecting the excellence of both names without diluting the essence of either.

Porsche’s engraved inscription is visible on the bezel and the unmistakable font is also used for the indexes. The Porsche colours of red, black, and grey – which also recall historic Heuer models – are incorporated throughout the watch, and on clear display through the transparent cristal case back is the oscillating mass, which has been redesigned in affectionate tribute to Porsche’s celebrated steering wheel. It is printed with “Porsche” and “TAG Heuer”.

The dial’s asphalt effect, created especially for this watch, expresses a passion for the road, while Arabic numerals suggest the numbers on the dashboard of fine Porsche sportscars. The timepiece is presented either on a soft strap in luxurious calf leather and innovative stitching that echoes the Porsche interior or on an interlocking bracelet reflecting streamlined racing design. At the heart of the timepiece is the in-house Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement with an impressive 80-hour power reserve.

Osaka was the first Asian woman to hold the number one position in singles, and the first Japanese player ever to win a Grand Slam event: the U.S. Open in 2018. That was followed by her Australian Open championship in 2019 and a second U.S. Open title in 2020.

The superstar has also become a leading voice for social justice. Tennis legend Billy Jean King is impressed by Osaka’s commitment not only to the game but to the things she believes in, saying,
“She’s very quiet and calm, but internally she’s on fire and thinking about things. I really admire what she’s done. Sports is a platform, and women’s tennis, we are the leaders in women’s sports, and Naomi has really stepped up.”

Naomi Osaka also expresses herself through fashion, which she describes as a passion second only to tennis. Her sense of style is as bold and eye-catching as her tennis game and her new TAG Heuer watches will complement her fashion choices and elevate the profile of the brand’s new pieces for women. TAG Heuer is looking forward to accompanying its newest brand ambassador at every tournament in 2021 and beyond. The brand recognizes in Osaka a bold expression of its founding values – passion for action, high performance, mental strength and avant-garde – and sees her as a natural and authentic fit for the company. It is difficult to imagine a better embodiment of TAG Heuer’s “Don’t crack under pressure” motto. At the heart of her game is a big serve and an intimidating ground game and these weapons are enhanced by the intelligence, the focus and the execution she brings to her matches.

Sports Illustrated has described Naomi Osaka as “the future of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA)”. It makes sense: she bridges generations and is truly multicultural. Born in Osaka to a Japanese mother and a Haitian-born father, she moved to the USA when she was a toddler and still makes her home there but when the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are finally contested in August of 2021, she will be playing for the host nation. “We are very proud to have Naomi join the TAG Heuer family. Her athletic record and commitment to excellence are outstanding but even more impressive is her passionate spirit and drive for advocacy which is an inspiration to so many. We are excited to support Naomi as she kicks off her 2021 season and prepares for her Olympic debut” says Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer.

Naomi Osaka: “I’m excited and honored to join TAG Heuer as brand ambassador. It’s a partnership and friendship that exemplifies our shared mindset and values. The brand’s trailblazing approach with their ‘Don’t crack under pressure’ motto speaks to the way I live my life both on and off the court.” TAG Heuer and Tennis: a perfect match Naomi Osaka joins a fearless generation of talent and courage at TAG Heuer. Precision and mental strength are essential to taking home the trophy. These same values have been upheld by TAG Heuer since 1860. Known for developing innovations that enhance the measurement of sports performance, the brand is committed to achieving ultimate precision. Its involvement in tennis, one of the world’s most popular sports, is a natural fit for a company that partners with the most intense and most thrilling sporting events across the globe to time champions as they push their limits, achieve the impossible
and never crack under pressure.

TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph Calibre Heuer 02

TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph Calibre Heuer 02
