DODGE ELECTRIC MUSCLE CAR 2024

Dodge confirmed Thursday it would build an all-electric muscle car in 2024. The announcement, part of a live-streamed press conference put on by parent company Stellantis, is part of the automotive conglomerate’s coordinated plan to switch all 14 of its brands to electric power in the coming years.

The since-removed video shows a design heavily based on the 1969-1970 Dodge Charger, with a fastback body style and LED strip lighting around the rectangular grille opening and a return the tri-point Dodge emblem. Dodge claimed over 800 horsepower was possible from dual electric motors, along with 500 miles of range and a 0-60 time of fewer than three seconds.

It’s not clear yet whether Dodge will use the Challenger or Charger name on what it calls the “world’s first full battery electric muscle car.” It’s also possible the brand could resurrect a totally different nameplate. Either way, Kuniskis expects electricity to make the experience better, not worse.

“If a charger can make a Charger faster, then we’re all for it,” he said during the conference.

Dodge did not reveal any details on the car, but CEO Tim Kuniskis spoke on his belief that electric power is the way forward.
