Through our exclusive and luxury furniture, we at Boca do Lobo intend to inspire the design world with our creations, focused in the craftsmanship of older times, brought to life in new, innovative ways. Today, we are focusing on the Boca do Lobo Furniture Family: Metamorphosis.
Introduced to the public at iSaloni 2016, the Diamond Metamorphosis was the first test of the metamorphosis concept. The merging of metamorphosis as an evolutionary process, commonly associated with insects, with the philosophical connotation of the word that originates from Kafka’s prime work, the Diamond Metamorphosis Sideboard questions the meaning of beauty and seeks to provoke a reaction.
This piece of Boca do Lobo furniture has come to symbolize the evolutionary history of life, representing the last stage of the cycle through the usage of sculpted fossils on display at the top of the table.
Similar to the dramatic transformation and the sudden change in the animal’s body structure, the Metamorphosis wall lamp experiences new unexpected design techniques, noble finishes through a meticulous artistic process.
This Boca do Lobo furniture piece is composed by two fragments finished in mirror and noble marble and beautified by the presence of golden creatures that are prepared for their ultimate metamorphosis.
The Metamorphosis console table has come to symbolize the evolutionary history of life, representing the last stage of the cycle through the usage of sculpted fossils on display at the top of the table. This Boca do Lobo furniture piece embodies handmade techniques such as hammering and polishing, executed by some of the best craftsmen in the country. The strong geometric design is coupled by two brass plated feet with casted brass details. A unique product for those who have a peculiar taste for limited edition pieces and conceptual designs.
A playful and remarkable design imagined for those who appreciate the good things in life, finding beauty in the most unexpected places. An extraordinary English snooker table of 10-foot playground, founded by 8 statement designed black wood legs which portray unexpected chaos of high-end materials and unexpected casted brass black bugs and gold scorpions, for an emotional experience.
The enormous success of the Metamorphosis Series gave birth yet to another unique creation – Metamorphosis Side Table. Similar to the dramatic transformation and the sudden change in the animal’s body structure, this Boca do Lobo furniture piece experiences new unexpected design techniques, noble finishes through a meticulous artistic process.

A 15th-century convent turned sophisticated garden retreat, Four Seasons Hotel Milano is a haven in the centre of Milan’s Fashion District. Fall asleep under frescoes in high-ceilinged rooms, dine on authentic Italian dishes on the airy veranda and recover from a day of shopping and sightseeing with a massage in our sleek, modern Spa.
In the lobby, guests can expect a new, lighter paint job, bronze inserts and mirrors—all intended to “interplay with the original frescoes and period features of the former convent.” There’s also a variety of new hanging lamps, table lamps and floor lighting. Furniture classics from Italian design brands decorate the areas.
Through the lobby, guests reach Zelo, the new restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Fabrizio Borraccino. During the day, the restaurant changes its identity to Zelo Bistrot, and the expanded outdoor area allows for seating both inside and out. Zelo Bistrot offers a menu of light dishes, while in the evening, Zelo proposes both an à la carte menu as well as a tasting menu of the chef’s creations. The menu, Four Seasons says, has been completely redone to reflect guests’ evolving tastes and Chef Borraccino’s focus on Italian cuisine and the best local producers.
Stilla, the new bar is positioned to the left of the lobby. The circular bar is appointed with cognac leather armchairs and velvet seating and sofas in shades of red and dark green. Guests can also sit outside in the hotel’s garden. The new menu created by Bar Manager Luca Angeli offers innovative new signature drinks and has a focus on ice craftsmanship. The menu has everything from Aeropress American coffee to a classic club sandwich to Negroni Sbagliato. Health-conscious guests can look forward to light plates and salads.
The Camino—the Italian word for fireplace—has also been transformed into a lounge with a wine cellar/tasting room. Here, guests can experience sommelier Lorenza Panzera’s wine list while listening to the beats of a DJ seat.
The Four Seasons Hotel Milano’s cloister garden, which hosts seating areas for both Stilla and Zelo, has been renewed by landscape architect and agronomist Flavio Pollano, an expert in vertical green, Botanics and garden design. The garden will also host a new raw bar, where guests can enjoy food and drinks on summer evenings while listening to the tunes of a DJ.
The renovated areas also feature curated contemporary artwork selected to interplay with the Four Seasons Hotel Milano’s past.
With this first phase of renovation completed, Four Seasons Hotel Milano reopens its doors while embarking on the phased renovation of rooms, suites and meeting areas.

Located in the city of Design, London, Rafael De Cárdenas elevated the contemporary design to the next level with Glebe Place Residence, by mixing novel styles, gathering together such dissimilar traditional Portuguese pieces and modern design. Still, the distinguished and top interior designer guarantees the most harmonious environments with this ambitious interior project design. Glebe Place Residence by Rafael De Cárdenas is way more than a platform of design, it has its own personality keeping most of the original details intact.
Featuring modern furniture and fine craftsmanship pieces, the astonishing six-bedroom residence was renovated to evoke timeless luxury, balancing contemporary classics with the home’s historic character. A restrained palette of Portland limestone, hardwood, and natural materials is punctuated by vibrant accents of turquoise, fuchsia, brass, and deep purple furnishings from modern European and American designers.
Rafael De Cárdenas recreated several different rooms, each one with its own classic touch. One of the three contemporary dining rooms has a special Portuguese reference completing the whole ambiance with the perfect piece of art, D. Manuel I Cabinet from Boca do Lobo’s Limited-Edition Collection.
Designed by Rafael De Cárdenas, the modern dining room is filled withluxury furniturepieces: a gigantic cream marble contemporary dining table and large upholstery modern chairs which gives the possibility to the room, to be more than a dining space. It can perfectly be a place to have an informal meeting with the closest professionals or business partners. The blossom rose wallpaper gives life to the walls and colour to the room delighted with classic hue and textures like beige, old greys, and dark woods.
Right beside the entrance door, D. Manuel Cabinet was chosen strategically by Rafael De Cárdenasto expand the space and cut the contemporary design of the rest of the pieces. The cabinet surface has a copper leaf finish, with a sophisticated black lacquer gradient applied on the outside. Its legs are made from solid mahogany and are crafted to a traditional and handmade form, finished in high gloss black lacquer.
Manueline Style was an inspiration for Rafael De Cárdenas due to the sumptuous and composite Portuguese style of architectural ornamentation, incorporating maritime elements and representations of the discoveries brought from the voyages of Vasco da Gama and Pedro Álvares Cabral, two of the most renamed discoverers in Portugal history.

Portugal is a country of tradition, a country where, still to this day, Craftsmanship is very present in our design and architecture. Hand-painted tiles, also known as Azulejos, are an ancient art which involves a specific way of hand-painting tin-glazed ceramic tilework.
Azulejosare currently one of the most representative forms of Craftsmanship in Portuguese culture, the hand-painted tiles reflect a tradition with hundreds of years. The Azulejois a clay or ceramic plate piece, generally with a square shape, decorated with glazed colorful designs. Most tiles show Moorish designs which have curvilinear, lacelike, and looping designs, or even geometric or floral motifs.
These techniques were introduced into Portuguese culture by the king Manuel I after a visit to Seville in 1503. Applied to pavements and walls, this form of Craftsmanship is now part of the Portuguese cultural identity. They usually evoke vital historical and mythical scenes from Portugal’s past, so they are treasured for their storytelling which prevails despite the passage of time. This form of artwork can be found both indoors and outdoors, especially in churches, palaces, schools, restaurants, bars, hospitals, subway stations and even in some ordinary houses.
The process of making these beautiful hand-painted tiles is very meticulous and an ode to Craftsmanship. A tile is chosen to see if it is cracked, the good ones have a hollow sound when hit against each other. The drawing is done on a parchment paper that is drawn with a graffiti pen and stamped with a coal pencil on to the tile. The paintwork is done with water-based paint, a powder that is mixed with water to work the density.
Although being an integral part of the Portuguese culture, this technique is being lost since there has been less and less apprentices interested in learning this intricacies behind it. However, Boca do Lobo is committed to preserving this elaborate yet refined form of Craftsmanship which inspired the Heritage series, a collection that displays different layers, each one illustrating a different story.

Present in fashion, furniture design, jewelry, these not so tiny creatures are a major inspiration to designers when creating their contemporary design pieces. Bugs might often be associated with disgusting creatures, but in the modern art world, they have a strong impact that makes our eyes flutter!

THE SOHO SIDEBOARD AND COLECCIONISTA
The similar styles of designs of these pieces are not by chance. Both of these designs were among some of the first creations Boca do Lobo brought into the world. Soho is the name of Boca do Lobo‘s first furniture design collection. The drawers on both creations count different and varied techniques from glass to wood, lacquer color to mirror and gold leaf, finely refined by brass handles.
“It was with the launch of these products that a path was discovered, which gave room to a new way of thinking and design attitude that ends up becoming a language, a soul, a style: the Boca do Lobo style, that mixes techniques and styles of past with contemporary design.”
– Marco Costa
Projected to be the jewel in the crown of the Portuguese brand Boca do Lobo, the Diamond Sideboard is a reflection of the furniture jeweler’s expertise and quintessence, undoubtedly deserving its title. This opulent object, full of resources and desire, has two carefully sculpted doors that reveal a gold lined interior with a shelf and two drawers. But because we never settle, we continued to evolve this creation with the aid our trusting craftsmanship techniques, the Diamond Metamorphosis was born. The finest craftsmanship arises from the perfect marriage between ancient skills and mechanical methods to conceive the real expression of exclusivity and high collectible design.
“Diamond was the first major challenge that mixed the modernist style and resulted in an unlikely combination. It was our intention to create two separate moments: a modern appealing visual confronted with a cultural discomfort due to its lion feet.”
– Marco Costa
When art becomes a sideboard your room acquires an evermore-inspiring atmosphere. The Mondrian sideboard is more art than utilitarian furniture. – Marco Costa
Hand-painted-tiles have gained a privileged place in architecture throughout the centuries. Portugal has adopted them like no other country has and to honor the Portuguese hand-painted tiles, Boca do Lobo created Heritage Sideboard. This modern design piece presents a different number of layers, where each one tells a different story. Completely covered with the iconic Portuguese azulejos, the interior of this sideboard is equally stunning, featuring four drawers fully lined with gold leaf.
“It was the first piece made in tiles by Boca do Lobo and the pleasure of exploring the technique was so great. It also resulted in one of the brand’s best sellers and one of the most representative products in Portugal and in Portuguese design.”
– Marco Costa
